How to Join and Split Conference Calls
Denis Enterprises hosted VOIP Phone System
Joining and splitting multiple phone calls without losing anyone can seem tricky but the Denis Enterprises Phone System has you covered.
While you are already on a call you receive another call:
- Press the 'Answer' softkey on your phone
- The phone system will automatically place your current call on hold
- The first caller will hear hold music
- You will be talking to the second caller
To join the two calls together:
- Place the first call on hold using the 'Hold' softkey
- Dial the second call number or extension
- Once the second caller answers you can join the calls by pressing the 'Join' softkey, you may need to press the 'More' softkey in order to see the 'Join' option on your softkeys
- The two calls are now conferenced on together with you
- If you hang up, the first call and the second call will remain joined
To split the two calls apart:
- While on an active conference call press the 'Split' softkey, you may need to press the 'More' softkey in order to see the 'Join' option on your softkeys
- The two calls are now split apart and placed on hold on your phone
- Both callers will hear hold music
- If you hang up, nothing happens as both calls will remain on hold
To disconnect a call without losing the other caller:
- Press the 'Resume' softkey after highlighting the call you want to pick back up off hold
- Then press the 'End Call' softkey on the call you wish to disconnect
- The call you disconnected will end and disappear from the screen
- The other call(s) will remain on hold
- To pick up another call highlight it using the directional key pad (described above) or tap it with your finger (on touch screen polycoms only)
- Press the 'Resume' softkey
- You will now be talking with the caller who was on hold while you disconnected the other call
If you hang up on a conference call, only you leave the conference call you created. The other callers will remain on the conference call together until they hang up. During regular call handling, the system will automatically place calls on hold for you if you answer another line and will not disconnect a call unless you hang up on that call or press end call. It will also preserve any saved calls on hold and keep them active and on hold no matter what you do with other calls. Only the call you are actively on is affected by the softkey options you choose at that time.
